Mija Jung is a New York City–based painter whose abstract work is inspired by biometric imagery and the brain’s neural networks. Through layered, microscopic forms, Mija explores the connections between body, environment, identity, and social power.
Mija received an MFA in painting from Rutgers University and an MFA and BFA in painting, Hongik University. Mija won the Contemporary Visual Art Award from AHL Foundation, NY, the Ellis Elizabeth Award, NJ and the MBC Grand Art Award, Korea and Takt Residency, Berlin. They exhibited at the New York Arts Center, IFAC, Robert Miller Gallery and Socrates Sculpture Park in New York; Hyundai and Kwanhoon Gallery in Seoul; Kleine Humboldt Galerie, Galerie Nord and Atelierhof Kreuzberg in Berlin.
